Hunry J. Kauffman
Henry J. Kauffman, Author, and Lecturer will be the guest speaker for the annual meeting of the Historical Society this Friday evening. Mr. Kauff man comes from Lancaster, Pa. where he is doing research on Pennsylvania antiquities, and is Professor of Industrial Arts at Millersville State College.
Mr. Kauffman has written several books of reference status on such subjects as The Pennsylvania Kentucky Rifle, Dutch American Folk Art, Early American Gunsmiths, 1650-1850, and a very fine work on American Copper and Brass, just off the press this Spring. He will speak on the methods of identifying early artcraft and what are good antique craftworks. He has consented to offer advice on articles of antiquity brought in to the meeting - anyone wishing to submit items should do so early so that they can be arranged for exhibit. He does not claim knowledge of china and glass. The meeting will be an important one for the Rappahannock Historical Society, both for the program and for projected plans for the rest of the year. The meeting will be held at the Library in Washington at 8 p.m. All membersand guests are invited whether dues are paid up or not. A special invitation is extended to The Friends of The Library who have contributed so generously to the recent drive.
