Animal Health Notes, May 1968 lists the following Formu la for a Bat Repellent: Mis in order; Water (110 degrees F) 330 ml, Sponto221 10 mil (Emulsifying Agent, Retzloff Chemical Corp., Box 45296, Houston, Texas), Oil of Mustard 10 ml (Magnus, Mabee, & Reynard, Inc., New York City, New York), Oil of Sassafras 10ml. (same source Water (65 degrees F.) 640 ml. To insure complete emulsification mix thoroughly with a mechanical paint mixed before adding final volume of water. The ingredients are highly irritating, and contact with eyes skin or inhalation should be avoided. Goggles and protective clothing should be worn when applying with a paint brush or sprayer. Ordinary surfaces are not stained or damaged by the repellent. If the repellent is used when young, flightless bats are in the roost, they are often abandoned and left to die. Most young are born in May - July so it is best to spray before or after these months.
