A four-day school for the instruction and training of firemen has been completed in Rappahannock County. Total enrollment of the school was at least 35 with 33 men completing the courses offered, and receiving certificates. There were 21 firemen who completed the 30-hour advanced course and 12 men receiving cards for the I 15-hour standard course. At least a dozen of these firemen had never had any prior schooling in fire control.
The school finale was held Friday night at the AmissviUe fire hall with students, instructors and guests attending. Certificates were awarded after a banquet which was served by the AmissviUe Ladies Auxiliary.
Guest speaker for the banquet meeting was Selby Jacobs, Chief Fire Marshal of Prince William County. His subject was also the theme of the school, “When you arrive, be ready for action.”
Hiis year there were three father-son teams involved in the fire school. They were Frank Huff and son Frankie and Edward Clark and son Eddie, aU of Flint HiU and Braxton James and son Carl of AmissviUe.

Parent-Teacher Conference night will be held at the Rappahannock County Elementary School on Tuesday night, October 29 from 7 to 9 o’clock.
All parents will be sent a reminder of this by one of their children at a later date. Plans are being formulated for an Open House at the Rappahannock County Elementary School on Sunday afternoon, November 10 from 2 until 5 p.m.
