Station Burglarized
Sperryville Esso Servicenter, operated by F. D. Coffey, was broken into Sunday morning and cigarets, a radio and about $6 was taken. TTiis is the second time in recent weeks this station has been burglarized.
According to Trooper J. B. Willis, entry was gained through the front door which was crashed in.
Amissville HD Club
Named ‘Outstanding*
The Amissville Homemakers Club was named the Outstanding Club of the Year and received the first place ribbon on its exhibit during the county-wide Achievement Night program held Thursday. Chester Gap club was host for the meeting and County Chairman Mrs. F. L. Bowey presided.
Those attending received a word of welcome from Mrs. Ethel Williams, incoming president of the Chester Gap club. Mrs. Stanley Williams also of that club, was in charge of devotions. Mrs. Barbara Gentry of Flint Hill led group singing.
Mrs. B. Gale Titchenell of the Woodville Club and Federation leader, introduced guests and judges. A representative of each club made a report on the year’s activities and projects. Mrs. Stanley Williams was spokesman for Chester Gap; Mrs. Loyd RuJJen for Flint Hill; Mrs. I Titchenell, Woodville and Mrs. Dottie Settle, Amissville.
Entertainment was provided by 4-H club members Wendy Brown and Raye Rector. Each presented a dance.
A demonstration on shoe covering was given by Mrs. S. W. Riley of Amissville and one on covered buttons was given by Mrs. Hubert Gilkey, Chester Gap. Mrs. Gilkey was also installed a j county club vice president.
