An article in a news magazine last week concerning EX-Treasury Secretary Joseph W. Barr’s recent report to Congress reads thus: “Barr feels drastic action is necessary. The entire tax system, he said, rests on the public’s confidence that it is fair and that everyone is paying according to his ability.”
Looks as if the nationwide feeling of the middle class is the same as it is here in Rappahannock about our own local tax system. It just might be almost as much trouble in making changes in the Federal Tax system as it is right here at home, too.
Henry J. Taylor in his column to the Richmond Times recently spoke of the “Papa knows best” spending on Capitol Hill. We here in Rappahannock know something about the “Papa knows best” form of government. You know - “Papa knows best” when a ruling of the Board of Supervisors should be carried out and when it should not be Appears as if it might have backfired slightly this time.
