Point-To-Point
Races Set March 1st
March 1st, 1969, is set for the 20th running of the Rappahannock Point-to-Point races. Originated in 1949, these races have become a favorite event on the Fried Chicken circuit, (the Virginia Point-to-Point circuit,) because of a very sporty rolling course, a stunning mountain setting, and a real country flavor.
The public is invited. First race starts at 12:30 p.m. For reserved parking, write Mrs. P. Lee ! Thornton, Sperryville, Va., the Sponsor Secretary of the ! Rappahannock Races. Seven i horse races with an exciting hound race as the finale will build ! an eventful afternoon program.
The 1969 Rappahannock Race Committee is headed by Edward Haggerty, Chairman. The race secretary in charge of entries is Miss Sue Haggerty; Mrs. P. Lee Thornton is sponsor secretary. NOTICE
According to M. H. Brady, Superintendent of Highways in Rappahannock, the employees of that department are not guilty of putting highway trash in the refuse units provided by the county for its citizens. This was so stated in the minutes of the January meeting of the Board of Supervisors and printed in this paper from the minutes of the meeting.
