About Escape Plans
In a talk last week to Rappahannock Lions Club, Selby Jacobs, fire marshall of Prince William County, pointed out most home fires start in the living room; in fact 37'; of them do. Tlie kitchen is the origin of 22T of home fires; the basement 14'7; the bedroom 13r; and all others 14';. He also said that most home fires start between midnight and 6 a m. the time when we are least prepared.
Mr. Jacobs stressed the importance of having two escape plans for your home in the event of fire and the importance preparation and practice using these. He rfoted that thousand degree temperatures can travel far ahead of the acutal flames and that fumes and heat are the killers ! rather than the flames. A closed
