Robinson Urges College * Aid for ROTC
Rep. J. Kenneth Robinson has offered in Congress a bill to provide a federal payment of $500 , to colleges for each officer i commissioned out of their ROTC programs. While the plan would be of j particular assistance to Virginia Military Institute and other ' military colleges, it would apply to all institutions maintaining senior ROTC programs.
“At a time in which we are striving to move in the direction of an all-volunteer military establishment, I believe it particularly important that we give maximum encouragement to the ROTC program,” the 7th District Congressman commented.
(Robinson also is one of the sponsors of legislation to raise from $50 to $100 a month the subsistence allowance of ROTC cadets.) The payments proposed in the Robinson bill would be based on actual commissioning, not on completion of an ROTC program, and would be made directly to the
