Cancer Soc. Meets
The Rappahannock Unit of the American Cancer Society met Tuesday night at the courthouse in Washington with Region Director, Mrs. Virginia Schneider, presiding. Announcement was made by treasurer, Mrs. James F. Massie, that the total funds collected in the April Crusade amounted to $1,833.90 which exceeded the $1,500 goal set for the local chapter. However, this was about a hundred dollars less than results the previous year. A new budget of $200 for county expenditures was adopted and included allocations for dressings, loan closet equipment, postage, phone, office supplies and printing.
Other business was the approval of 8 cents per mile as the rate paid for transportation of cancer patients, and the discussion of a chairman to head the crusade in 1972. Announcement was made of a Division meeting September 28 in Front Royal.
Garden Club Meets at Blue Rock Farm
The Rappahannock County Garden Club will meet Wednesday, September 15 at 2 p.m. at t the home of Mrs. Ian Pryde, Blue Rock Farm, Washington.
Mrs. Pryde as Chairman will present a program on “Putting the Garden to Bed.” Mason Hutcheson, Agricultural Extension Agent, Culpeper County will be the enest SDeaker. The Exhibit will be “Autumn Arrangement.”
