Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors held its regular September meeting at the courthouse in Washington Thursday with J. N. Miller, Chairman presiding. Others present wereL. H. Luttrell, Herbert Foster, Mrs. Betty Coates and the Clerk, E. M. Jones.
Following the reading and approval of the minutes the Resident Engineer James K. Skeens presented the secondary road budget, which, after discussion was approved. The Budget contained a total of $346,783 for maintenance, repair, construction, snow removal, etc. on the county secondary roads for a period of a year.
Mr. Skeens noted that he would submit new recommendations for street standards to coincide with a re-study of zoning which is required every five years.
Complaints on Route 604 were registered by Mrs. Ray Beck and Mrs. Chester Weaver. Supervisor Foster asked Mr. Skeens to view Route 662 near Flint Hill with him at his convenience and Mr. Miller asked that he look at Route 620. Mr. Skeens added that the secondary road system was maintained in the best possible manner with funds allocated for this.
Mr. Skeens discussed Highway Week in Virginia which is this month and suggested that note be taken of the two new bridges recently constructed or still under construction on Routes 621 at Rudasill’s Mill and on Route 647, the Fauquier-Rappahannock line.
