voting districts have been established instead of the previous six. By combining Stonewall and Hawthorne Districts and slightly rearranging the other district lines, population has been equalized to approximately 1,000 in each district, thereby equalizing the 5,000 odd residents of the county.
A letter to Commonwealth’s Attorney George H. Davis jr. from the office of the U. S. Assistant, Attorney General, Civil Rights Division, Department of Justice stated that Rappahannock’s redistricting plan has not been rejected, consequently it stands as approved at present and these lines will be used in the November election. The departmet had no objections to the changes in question. A satisfactory jail inspection report had been received from the Department of Welfare and Institutions.
Rummage Sale To Benefit W.V.F.D.
The Ladies Auxiliary to Washington Volunteer Fire Department will open their rummage sales Friday and Saturday, September 10th and 11th at 10 a.m. in the basement of the Washington Post Office building. The sales will continue every Friday and Saturday at this time until further notice. These ladies wish to express their appreciation to all who baked or helped with the bake sale. I
