sustained lacerations of the lip, chin and knees and Kenneth Brubaker of Sperryville had a chest injury.
Friday afternoon a 1963 Chevrolet station wagon owned by Joseph Mathew of Stanley which was parked at Swindler’s Gift Shop west of Sperryville was sideswiped by an unidentified vehicle. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $150 by investigating officer Buntin.
Four vehicles were involved in a chain collision three miles west of Washington on Route 211 November 21 at 2:15 a.m. George Pendleton of Brandy Station in a 1970 Ford slowed to stop when his car developed engine trouble. Three cars were behind him, all traveling east; a 64 Pontiac operated by Woodrow Banks and a 59 Volkswagen operated by Rudolph Banks, both of Brandy Station, plus a 63 Ford driven by John Butler of Rixeyville. As all of the vehicles slowed, the Butler car struck the Rudolph Banks vehicle which struck the Woodrow Banks car which crashed into the Pendleton vehicle.
Butler was charged with following too closely by Trooper Buntin who set damage to the cars as follows: $200 to Pendleton; $400 to W. Banks; $600 to R. Banks and $300 to Butler.
An hour and a half later on Route 729 near Forest Grove school, Walter Richard Reid of Viewtown operating a 61 Chevrolet owned by William Bland of Bealeton, ran off the left of the road and struck a utility pole.
