But to cope with this threat adequately, McNear added, takes time. He asked for additional funds so he could keep his office open two days a week, instead of one, and thereby be enabled to “keep up.”
HE PREDICTED an increasing need for the services of his department “if we’re going to protect our county from what some of these outsiders want to do to our county.”
Dealing with such additional threats as the powerline plans of Potomac Edison and Virginia Electric and Power Company placed additional strains on his office during the past year, McNear went on.
