“THE NATURAL SPAN of a man’s life is 70 years, if he is strong and healthy and lives to be older ’ than that allotted time, he is living on borrowed time.” That “borrowed time” caused some questions in my mind till I accepted the doctrine of re-incarnation. I remember Nelson Eddy singing, “I love life, I want to live.” So, why would the Giver of Life borrow a part of one’s life to give to another? It does not seem to be in accord with a sense of divine justice, to say that we borrow it from one of the soul’s numerous lives does. I’ve voiced a desire to ‘live in the harness’ right up to the very end, eat a hearty supper, say my prayers, fall asleep as usual, and wake up in heaven. That is my desire. I like the way an unknown poet expresses his. Oh, I am not planning to take that final trip till I get the call — just listening. “I have lived, I have loved, I have laughed, Life’s golden wine I have quaffed. And drank to its golden lees. If my life should end with the evening breeze I’m ahead, far ahead of the game. Oh Great God above, God of light and of love, Let me not die with slow pulse and pain Like a clock running down in the night.
