This is an open letter to Mr. James Skeens of the Virginia State Highway Department:
Dear Mr. Skeens:
On August 11, there was a head-on collision on Route 637. It would not have happened had the road been less hazardous. '
Near misses occur daily on this heavily traveled, poorly maintained, onelane dirt road, and no one who lives on it has not been in the ditch at least once.
In April, I attended the road hearing and requested improvement for Route 637. None has been made and maintenance has been minimal. Grading consists of pushing boulders and beer cans from the sides to the middle of the road.
I wonder why the Highway Department wastes my time and that of the Rappahannock Supervisors by
