There will not be a September squirrel season in Madison County this year. Madison County will have an October season the same as Culpeper and Rappahannock; that will be from October 2 - 14.
THE SEASON for duck hunters opens November 22 and will end January 20. Three ducks per day is the basic limit in Virginia. There are certain limitations within that framework.
Of interest to us locally, only two wood ducks per day may be included in the total bag. Only one black duck per day in the total bag and no canvasbacks or red heads will be allowed as 1972-73 will remain entirely closed for these species.
The goose season will open November 13 and close with ducks on January 20. Three a day is the limit. An exception to goose season and limit is in the back bay area where the season will open with duck season on November 22 and close January 10. The limit in that area will be one per day.
