ONE OF THE HOMES open for the House Tour and Dried, Flower Sale on October 21 and 22 sponsored by the Episcopal Churchwomen of Bromfield Parish will be Thornton River Farms at Viewtown, owned and occupied by Mr. and Mrs. Isaac L. Parrish.
This old farm house, started as a tenant house was probably built around 1830. It was constructed with the tools and the style of the former generation.
Previously consisting of two wings, it was integrated with a large enclosed double porch by the Parrishes. Few other structural changes have^been made except to enlarge= the living room and add a picture window on the western side to overlook their sweeping view of the Blue Ridge mountains.
Among their collection of paintings and sketches is a water color portrait by Andrew Wyeth of Mrs. Parrish" in her wedding dress and a childhood portrait by Henrette Wyeth when the latter was beginning her career as a portrait painter.
OTHER HOUSES ON THE Tour will be High Thicket, home of Mr. and Mrs. James P.jJamieson of Sperryville and The Cabin, retirement home of Judge and Mrs. Thomas M. Johnston at Viewtown.
Dried flower arrangements will be sold at th€^ Trinity Church parish hall and in the todr homes. Hours are from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. □
