New voters

A TOTAL of 2,452 registered voters in Rappahannock are eligible to go to the polls in the general election next Tuesday. October 7, the last day to register prior to the upcoming election, found 54 persons at the office of the general registrar.

According to figures produced by Mrs. Mary Cleverley, general registrar for Rappahannock, Piedmont District, Sperryville precinct, had the greatest increase in registered voters.

As of March 1, 1971, this district had 347 registered as compared to the present 486, making an increase of 139 in that length of time.

Other increase comparisons with the March 71 to November 72 figures ininclude: Hampton 500-541; Jackson 368-452; Stonewall -Hawthorne 345-432; Wakefield, two precincts, Chester Gap 185-198; Flint Hill 320-343.

The increase for the county since March, 71, is 387 voters. □
