A MOVE in controlling growth in Rappahannock County was taken last week when the County’s Board of Supervisors approved a 60-day moratorium on subdivisions.
The four to one vote in favor of the delay was taken after Herbert Barksdale, representing the Planning Commission, asked for the moratorium to give the Commission time to complete a new subdivision ordinance.
Mrs. Betty Coates, who opposed the motion, said she did so because she had promised a friend to support his plea for a variance. She said she was in favor of the delay, but did not want to break her word.
