The Board ordered published for a public hearing in June an ordinance which would recognize members of rescue squads and volunteer fire companies. This, according to state law, will provide payments up to $10,000 for survivors of members killed in the line of duty.
JACK BRUCE, dog warden, presented a claim from Helen Dixon for a calf allegedly killed by dogs. Bruce said the calf had been dead several days and had been buried, so he couldn’t make an absolute determination.
The Board refused the claim, and voted to pay only claims for animals that have been assessed, “if they are assessable.”
