Six arrested after
stolen goods found
" a LARGE CACHE of stolen goods was recovered in Rappahannock County Tuesday, and six persons are being held for burglary and grand larceny in connection with the thefts. Marcus Spears of Culpeper, David Ryder and Joseph Criger, both of Manassas, are being held on $3,000 bond along with three juveniles who await a hearing today. The three men were apprehended Sunday night when they were found taking tires from a vehicle on Route 522 by a passing motorist, Wayne Jenkins, who reported them to Deputy Ray Jackson. They were charged with larceny of the auto tires. Further investigation by Sheriff John Walker Jenkins and Deputies Everett Estes and Ronnie Hawkins disclosed the stolen goods in a house near Woodville owned by William N. Lane which Spears said he intended to rent from Mr. Lane. Apparently Spears had been using the house without the knowledge of the owner. Among the recovered property was silver, pewter, tools and guns taken from the home of Cmdr. and Mrs. I.O. Wolf near Woodville, which was entered and ransacked Sunday night. Other items were identified by J.W. Fletcher as belonging to him and missing from Montpelier, the former Shackleford place, on Route 231. This house was broken into about two weeks ago, according to the Sheriff.
Other items confiscated were drug pipes, needles and related equipment. □
