FINAL official tabulation of Virginia’s 1973 traffic deaths stands at 1,220, a decrease of 2.9% when compared to the 1,256 of p972, Colonel H. W. Burgess, Superintendent of State Police, has announced.
A rise of 6.0% in traffic volumes sent the State’s mileage death rate (deaths per each 100 million miles of travel) down from 1973’s 3.8 to 3.5, which compares well with the national average of 4.2.
