the Virginia Telephone & Telegraph name, May 1 brought several noticeable changes, including “Central Telephone Company” greetings on calls to the business office.
Building signs were scheduled to be changed by May 1, too, Reid said. All telephone directories issued after May 1 will be labeled Central Telephone Company as will directory covers in pay telephone stations.
