Rains blamed
for wrecks
Heavy rains Saturday afternoon caused slippery highways and skidding traffic crashes. Two were reported on Route 522 near the Culpeper County Line and investigated by Trooper R.A. Baines. John W. Bernard of Durham, N.C. operating a 73 Toyota lost control of the vehicle and flipped it over. He was not injured and damage was estimated at $900. At Scrabble the same day, James Hazel of Culpeper driving a 67 Brockway escaped injury when the vehicle went out of control and only minor damage resulted. □
