Virginia’s General Assembly will consider the ERA when it meets this January. The ERA was first introduced into the United States Congress 50 years, ago. Passed by Congress in March 1972, it is now before the States for ratification.
By mid-summer of 1974, 33 states had ratified the ERA. Only five more states must ratify the ERA for it to become the 27th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. □
