You are well aware, we’re sure, that there is a severe shortage of funds for highway construction. This is in no way the fault of the Virginia Highway and Transportation Department or our State Legislature. It is simply an economic reality in these times.
Virginia has over 3,000 obsolete bridges and over 20,000 miles of roads which are completely inadequate for today’s traffic.
There are a number of such conditions which directly affect you and we believe you should know about them. They are listed below. Also, keep in mind that improving road conditions produces jobs, and or^y the highway users pay for their roads through highway users taxes.
