With Easter Vacation behind them, R.C.H.S. students are preparing to go into their final six weeks of school. This six weeks ended Thursday and report cards will be distributed next Thursday. The recent heat always makes the day seem longer but I have a feeling June 4th will be here sooner than we realize.
Let’s catch up on some baseball news. First of all, I must make a correction in my last article in which I referred to our Panthers game of the 6th as Rapp, vs. Elkton. Our Panthers met with William Monroe on April 6 winning by a score of 11-1.
Mike Tupper did an outstanding job of pitching that day, striking out 20 batters. On April 9, our Panther’s met with Elkton and succeeded in winning by a margin of 4-3. April 16 they played Madison and were not as successful, losing by a margin of 7-0; but on April 20 our Panthers made a come-back on a close and exciting game with Montevideo. The final score was 6-5 in Rapp’s favor—putting our Panthers in a tie position for first in the district with Montevideo. In District games, both Rapp, and Montevideo have won 4 games and lost 4. It’s going to be an exciting season! Keep up the good work Panthers.
Our Girl’s Track team met Thursday the 8th with Stonewall’s team. The final outcome was not a victory for our girls, Rapp. 53, Stonewall 60, but quite a few of our Lady Panthers did outstanding jobs. Rapp placed 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in the long jump with Wendy Jenkins, Connie DelGrosso and Karen Welch (respectively). Eleanor Phillips took 1st place in shotput competition, Jeanette Beeke placed 2nd, Ruby Dunn placed 2nd in the high jump and Connie DelGrosso placed 1st in the hurdles.
