Because of your strong advocacy of the preservation of farmlands, you will want to know of the action of the House of Representatives last week to save 40,000 acres in Virginia and North Carolina from being flooded by a misbegotten pumped storage electric project on the New River.
By an overwhelming vote of 311 to 73, the House voted save the New River and its valley from being flooded out—a remarkable victory for 3,000 people who would have lost their homes, farms and livelihood in favor of a questionable power project. ..
