MRS. James C. Fincham was describing a tree which had fallen in a previous storm at her place and was lying on the ground downhill. “The wind picked that tree up and turned it completely over, leaving it pointing in the opposite direction,” she said. “My new row of snap beans, just leafed out good, were stripped,” she said as she pointed to a row of stalks— all that was left of them.
“The hail covered the ground and the wind whipped it into piles that you could scoop up with a shovel,” Mrs. fincham concluded, “and there was nothing any of us could do.”D
