The vehicles, built to Department specifications by Sirchie Fingerprint Laboratories Inc., of Raleigh, North Carolina, are assigned to the Division of Investigation which was created by the 1974 General Assembly and established within the Department July 1 of that year.

During 1976, the Division of Investigation conducted 4,085 criminal investigations. Thirty-four per cent were at the request for assistance by local law enforcement authorities throughout the Commonwealth. Division Captain H. V. Boone noted
