The mobile crime laboratories, painted blue and gray, will be the first utilized by the State Police and similar to those now being used by several local police departments in the state. Captain Boone said, however, that the State Police vehicles had been specifically equipped with tandem rear wheels to increase road maneuverability, particularly in rural areas, and that each vehicle would be operated by a two-man team consisting of graduates of the Bureau of Forensic Science Academy.
The interior configuration of each vehicle is direct walkthrough access from cab to laboratory area with steel insulated paneling, custom made aluminum cabinets, dome lights, dash mounted console and evidence examination tables.
