Tanner
Mrs. Nelie Dawson Tanner of Madison County died June 26, 1977 at The Towers in Charlottesville. She was the widow of Charles Byron Tanner. Her parents were the late Charles William and Roberta Hood Dawson of Wolftown. Mrs. Tanner was bom February 22, 1886.
She was a member of Fairview Christian Church at Hood where she was organist for many years. She was retired after teaching in private schools in Madison and Nelson counties.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Christine Johnston of Sperryville and Mrs. Helen Willoughby of Unionville; three sons, Hunter of Stanardsville, Dawson of Wolftown and Roger of Charlottesville; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held June 29 at the Ryan Funeral Home in Quinque conducted by the Rev. P. H. Coffey, assisted by the Rev. Amick. Burial was in the Fairview Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Andrew Meade, Andrew Reams, Bobby Fulwiker, Jim Mauze, Cliff Johnson and Haywood Hood.
