Several changes in Virginia’s alcoholic beverage control laws took effect Friday.
Licensees are prohibited from advertising ‘‘Happy Hour” in newspaper and magazines and on radio or television.
‘‘High test” beer- may be sold statewide. Persons previously limited to 3.2 beverage licenses because of past local option elections now may apply to obtain regular beer licenses.
Outside terraces or patios now may be classified as ‘‘designated rooms” for serving mixed beverages.
The advertising regulations were amended to permit adult-sized items of wearing apparel advertising beer to be sold.
The sale of such wearing apparel and of novelty and specialty items bearing alcoholic beverage advertising which would be suggestive of athletic prowess, tending to induce minors to drink or containing any indecent statement or depiction, will be prohibited.
Persons operating food concessions at Cfoliseums, stadiums, or similar facilities, that are licensed to sell beer for on-premise consumption during professional sporting events, will be allowed to sell
