and determines to a large extent the kind of school system we have in this county.
I would like to see some progressive things happening in our county schools. Indeed, the sun does peak from behind the clouds at rare moments. But the classroom scene, generally speaking, is a decade or two behind. Progress, to a large extent, is dependent on that important decision-making body—the School Board.
It’s high time for some changes around here. And the first change needed is that school board members be elected by popular vote. Perhaps then we, the people, could replace some Board members with those who are sincerely interested in education, not just nambypamby politics.
