The Rappahannock Supervisors have boasted again and again that county government and services here are run about as economically as possible. According to the report of the Auditor of Public Accounts of the Commonwealth of Virginia on Comparative Cost of County Government for the year ended June 30, 1977, the Supervisors are correct.
Out of 95 Virginia counties, Rappahannock ranks near the bottom in per capita expenditures for just about everything. The county also funds a higher than average percentage of total costs with local revenue.
