For the Rappahannock School Board, it’s been “two steps forward and one step back” in efforts to fill teaching vacancies at the elementary and high school. At last Wednesday’s Board meeting, Superintendent William Bloomer reported that the social studies instructor approved for employment just one week ago had returned her contract unsigned. In addition, ' Bloomer informed the Board that high school teacher Karl Studt had resigned.
After a two-hour executive session, the Board announced that teachers had been hired for social studies, high school business and two fifth grade classes. A guidance counselor-teacher for the high school was also approved. However, he turned in his resignation the following day.
As of Friday afternoon, seven teaching positions and the job of assistant superintendent remained vacant, according to Dr.
