On June 28, 1978, the Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Ancient, Free and Accepted Masons of the Commonwealth of Virginia, Robert Rhandle Kennedy, Jr., made his official visit to the Fourth Masonic District.
At this time the Grand Master honored Mr. Thomas Morgan Johnston of Washington Lodge No. 78, A.F. &. A.M. of Washington, in presenting him with the Award of Mason of the Year from the Fourth Masonic District. Mr. Johnston has been a member of Washington Lodge No. 78 since 1938 and was selected for this award because of his interest, support and dedication to the Masonic
* principles during his forty years of membership. Mr. Johnston is a resident of Sperryville.
