Rappahannock citizens who are concerned with what they see as inequities in the state formula for funding education will have the opportunity to state their views on September 14 at a public hearing in Richmond.
At its 1978 session, the General Assembly created the Public School Finance Study Commission to examine state funding of public elementary and secondary education.
According to a recent press release, the Commission is now attempting to evaluate the formula for allocating state basic aid and categorical aid among school divisions and has scheduled the public hearing to receive ‘views, comments, criticisms or appraisals” of the formula. Topics expected to be
