The Planning Commission public hearing was slow getting started as Chairman Herbert Barksdale waited for a quorum. Public turnout was light compared to the packed courthouse earlier in the year when the county's Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA) heard testimony for and against granting a special use permit for the skiing and Alpine Slide operations. (The special use permit was denied by the BZA on February 9, 1978).
