Foster Eldora Smoot Foster, 83, of Huntly, died December 10, 1978 in Warren Memorial Hospital, Front Royal. A funeral service was held Tuesday from the chapel of the Maddox Funeral Home, Front Royal, conducted by the Rev. Lindsey Savage. Burial was in the Flint Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Foster was bom in Rappahannock County, daughter of the late Sam Smoot and Kathleen Dare Smoot. She was the widow of Silas Foster, Sr. and was a member of the Flint Hill Primitive Baptist Church. Surviving are five sons, Silas Foster Jr. and Edward J. Foster, both of Front Royal, Jesse Lee Foster of Sperryville, Downing Foster of Huntly and Irvin Ashby Foster of Burkittsville, Md.; four daughters, Victoria Jenkins of Huntly, Colleen Foster of Flint Hill, Hannah Settle of Charles Town, W. Va. and Kathleen Drone of Huntly; a brother. Sambo Smoot of Winchester, 31 grandchildren and 34 greatgrandchildren.

Pallbearers were E. J. Welch, Randolph Foster, Gavor Foster, Larry Welch, James L. Settle, Ned Settle, Charles Woodard and Michael Atkins. W. H. Thomas William Howard Thomas, 63, died unexpectedly Dec. 10 near his home at Bluemont. He was a retired steamfitter. He was the son of the late William and Virginia Stickles Thomas. Surviving are his wife Mrs. Lena Poston Thomas, five sisters, Mrs. Nina B. Lunceford. The Plains, Mrs. Lucille Cameron, Washington, Va., Mrs. Elsie T. Boight, Washington, D.C., Mrs. Mady T. Wolfe, Arlington, and Mrs. Frances Ballenger, Hyattsville, Md., four brothers, Walter S. Thomas, Bentonville, Gwynne M. Thomas, Junction City, Kans., Claude M. and James M. Thomas, Boyce, and a number of nieces and nephews. Graveside services were to be conducted at 2 p.m. Dec. 13 at Ivy Hill Cemetery, Upperville, by Rev. Anthony Wadsworth. Arrangements are by Wiltshire Funeral Home.
