Bob Dennis, president of the Rappahannock Chapter of the Izaak Walton League, said that the suit filed by his organization seeking repeal of the ski area amendments was intended to reinforce RLEP’s proposals. He added that the new amendments adopted in September would be difficult to change if allowed to stand for any length of time. Attempted revisions would be viewed as downzoning and overturned by the court, according to Dennis. By filing its suit, he said, the Izaak Walton Chapter meant to record public opposition so further revisions would be possible.

"Suppose the amendments are repealed?” asked Davis. “Then you would give all forms of recreation and amusement as uses by right in a conservation district," he said, adding that the amendments criticized by RLEP and the Izaak Walton League actually limited recreational uses on steep slopes. “A lot of your objections just don’t hold up," he said.
