The local cancer unit also provides material support. The loan closet supervised by Dollie Biddle, hospital beds, a walker, a wheelchair, siderails for beds, a tray table on wheels which fits over a bed, dressings and other medical supplies and equipment. Arrangements can be made to use any of the items by calling Mrs. Biddle at 987-8390 or 675-3449, Kareir Tornedan at 675-3646 or Juanda Rodgers at 6753636.
Mrs. Rodgers also said the local Cancer Society will assist whenever possible with transportation to and from hospitals for treatment. "Sometimes we’re able to furnish other things. Each patient is unique and we try to tailor our help to meet their needs. We’ll do anything we can to get special equipment from anywhere— Richmond, Winchester. I’m not afraid to ask anybody for anything,” Mrs. Rodgers said. “We have volunteers who want to help in any manner that they can.”
