retarded and trainable mentally retarded youngsters. Dorian Lynn Brown of Richmond. a graduate of Smith College in Maine, will teach the combination class for emotionally disturbed and learning disabled children.
Another first year teacher, VPI and SU graduate Sally Brand of Sperryville, will be the earth science instructor. Rose Ann Sharp of Huntly, a graduate of UVa with one year’s experience, will teach special education at the high school, and Corinne Stine of Scranton, Pennsylvania, who graduated from East Stroudsburg State College.
The new self-contained class for learning disabled students will be taught by Mary Jane McCarthy of Alexandria, a graduate of City University of New York with a master’s degree from the University of Oregon and four years teaching experience. Mollie Hobson will return to take over her former position as teacher in the Title 1 math lab.
Physical education at the elementary school will be taught by Teresa A. McLawhorn of Roanoke, a graduate of Longwood College.
In the upper elementary grades, the school board has hired six first year teachers: Pearl Dodson Barron of Bealeton, a graduate of Mary Washington College; Valerie L. Hibbs of Richmond, Ohio, a graduate of Fairmont State College; Lynn Hilleary Myrtle
