Miss Cora Evans was born in Knox County, Illinois and was married to Mr. F. R. McLaughlin in 1885. Soon after their marriage they collected their belongings together and started west and located on their present farm. They rented this farm tor four years of L. C. Whipple when they finally bought it. By judicious-management they have brought this farm up to the very highest state of cultivation and have raised their family of three sons and four daughters. Here, when this country was new and household duties were numerous Mrs. McLaughlin could often be seen going or coming from tbe sick bed of a neighbor where she bad been spreading golden grains of oomfort and cheer to tbe afflicted. Her sweet Christian life was ppent for others. Although frail of body her strength never failed her while in tbe work of her Master. Day or night she was ready to promote His work and to do His bidding.
