On account of his tremendous speed-ability Sunday was too daring, taking: desperate chances that no one else would ever consider for a minute. I want to say right here that Billy was as good a boy as ever lived, conscientious to the verge of absurdity always cheery, always ready to take a hand. Years afterward, when he had developed into a crackerjack evangelist, Mrs. Anson and I went to hear him. It was simply great. After the service was over we went up front and spoke to Billy. He was tickled to death to see us and fairly hugged us both. "Looks as though you'd struck something bigger than the game, Billy," I said. Mrs. Anson told me afterward that I ought to be ashamed of myself for expressing myself that way. "I certainly have, captain," Billy admitted with his old laugh.
