We have for several years past run a very successful dairy business on only three-fourths of an acre of ground The location is inside of the city limits within easy reach of all those to whom milk is delivered. We have found it decidedly advantageous to pay higher prices and obtain the best cows to work with. In our experience, a good cow has always been more responsive to careful treatment and abundant feed than a poorer cow. For several years our cows have averaged a net profit to us of $164.51 apiece. We think this high profit is largely due to three things. First, we keep cows of a good dairy type only second, we give them plenty of feed as nearly as possible in a balanced ration, and lastly, we strictly obey the rules of regularity in milking and caring for them.
