The New Yorks finished their se«r eon with four games played at Chicago. In order to win the championship it was necessary that they should get three of these. They looked on Victory as a foregone conclusion, and they had considerable reason to feel that way, for they had won nine of the 12 games they had played with us that season. They missed their guessr by a large majority. We won three straight games from them and that cinched the pennant for us.
