Now that I am on the subject, I may as well tell you something about the way I put in some of my other winters. The ball-playing business was good for only about seven months In the year, but I was not satisfied to be idle the remaining five, and I embarked in various ventures, some of them profitable and some quite otherwise. One winter I ran a handball court, which was too far away from the business center to be papular. One winter the lessees converted the ball grounds into a skating rink and toboggan slide, and I was given the management of the place. It was a howling success, socially and financially. The toboggan craze was at its height Just then and the fashionable set took it up and filled the rink every afternoon and evening.
