In the fall the pigs that had spent the summer on the dry lot were just pigs. They had made good gains and were fat and sleek. The clover was largely gone but by fall the pigs that fed upon it were large, strong boned, heavy framed hogs. They carried a large amount of fat and weighed on an average 214.8 pounds. The pigs on the bluegrass side looked pinched. They did not have the bone nor frame. They only weighed 157 pounds each. Truly a good demonstration in favor of clover pasture for the Iowa farmer.
