At the end of the year 16,560 pounds of milk had been weighed on the milk scales. According to the tables the cows averaged 40 pounds of milk each per day for the first 90 days 28 pounds each per day for the following 90 days 20 pounds each per day for the next 60 days 16 pounds each per day for the next 30 days or the ninth month 10 pounds each per day for the tenth month six pounds each per day for the eleventh month, the last month that they gave milk. We always dried the cows up six weeks before the next calving. Of the 16,560 pounds of milk produced 15,260 were sold at the rate of 25 cents per gallon, giving a total receipt of $476.86.
